Dropped by this place today for lunch in Little Italy (aka the Drive) to watch Italy vs. Germany for Euro 2012. I was actually really drawn to this place just because I saw Guy Fieri review it on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives on the Food Network one time – how could I resist? Anyways, as I walked in the place was packed for the soccer game, and it’s not all that big despite having an upstairs patio – I was lucky to get a seat! Service was extremely slow but it was totally expected due to the game.
Yam Fries: 1.5/3 – Average yam fries, nothing special. They were nice and crispy but didn’t really have much taste. The side of chipotle mayo was too watery for my liking, and didn’t have that extra bit of spice and flavour I was looking for.
Honey Bratwurst Sausage: 2/3 – Enjoyed the onions on the side and the interesting flavour. This was pretty good, I just wish it was bigger and more nicely put together!
Verdict: I actually can’t give an accurate review considering how packed it was due to the soccer game – but I definitely like this place for some better than average bar food. Bonus points for having a couple screens set up to stream sports though! (Two upstairs, two downstairs.) Chill atmosphere, nice upstairs patio and apparently they have Trivia Nights on Tuesdays and weekly live music acts. As for the food however, I feel like the portion sizing for their sausages & sandwiches may be small compared to some other places – so you may need to order an extra side dish or two if you have a big appetite!
Overall Rating: 3/5 Good, fairly inexpensive, I would come back again if I happen to be in the area.
